    SBLive and Asus K7m

Does anyone know if there is a compatability issue between, the SBLive and AsusK7M?
    I get random 0028 errors.

    Clone
    AMD Athlon 600
    Asus K7M Release Bios 1009
    Windows ME
    256MB
Asus V7700 Deluxe with 5.53 drivers. (Detonator 3)
Creative SBLive 8/26/1999 Drivers (Won't go higher)
    Maxtor Ultra 100 Controller

    Ide0 - 20GB Ultra66
    Ide1 - LS-120
    IDE2- Creative 5X DVD
    IDE3 - Matshita 4/8X CD-R
    IDE4 - 20 GB Ultra100 7200rpm
    IDE5 - Empty
    IDE6 - 4GB Ultra33 2GB Swap File
    IDE7 - Atapi ZIP 250

THe only two IRQs I have shared are for the dual USB controllers. I remebr hearing at one point that the sound card should have an IRQ greater than 9. Could this be a factor?

This has occured with 98SE and ME as well as with a Marvel G400 with PD 5.55.

    Thanks for any help.

I am thinking it is the K7M. I have had troubles for a while. How are the KX133s?

I might just break down and get a T-Bird ahead of schedule and get a KT133 too.

Anyone know where I could get old Bios versions for the K7M?

        Thanks.

I don't think so, I have the K7m myself with a Soundblaster Live! Platinum (on IRQ5) and several other hardware working without problem in Win 98SE and Win2K. The K7m is IMHO a very stable Board, the only bigger disadvantage I can see is that you can't raise the FSB a lot (FSB's over 107 get unstable here).

Anyone know where I could get old Bios versions for the K7M?
I have the latest one installed (1.32) - as said no major problems.
I think I have some of the older Bioses saved on my HD.
*searches the HD for a while*
Hmm, seems I deleted all but the beta 1009, 1.30 and 1.32 ones.
But you can always get older Bioses from

          ftp://ftp.asus.com/Pub/ASUS/beta/mb/bios
          (the files beginning with km...)

          And even older ones under
          ftp://ftp.asus.com/Pub/ASUS/mb/slota/k7m

When I had my K7M, I had no problems with it and my SB Live X-Gamer. I had no irq conflicts, though.

I reseated the card and add the new sblive drivers: http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum3/HTML/002624.html

              Looks good for now.
              Here's to hoping.
