It's still 6 months away from where I'd want to buy one, considering drivers for the mb's, mb revisions, bios updates and general growing pains. The price of DDR ram will also come down by then.

I'm going to wait until about 2nd Quarter 2001 and pick up a dual processor rig. Hopefully I'll be abl to afford 1.5 GHz or better

        And a RAID array...

        And a dual G800...

        And a new everything...

Here's an interesting quote from the review at gamer's depot:

If this reference system is representative of what we can expect from 760 chipset-based systems, AMD has a bright future, especially if they and their partners can keep prices down on all of the components involved. The 760 chipset reportedly has pricing around $40 each, but don’t expect AMD to sell them for long. AMD is only planning on selling the 760 until VIA and other chipset makers can make their own versions in quantity.

Damn, what the hell is AMD thinking? Leaving VIA and ALI to supply chipsets is like shooting yourself in the foot... The 760 sounds like a good chipset, and to already plan it's funeral is crazy.

            Enough ranting
