    DVD - udma fail

    Hi!

    When I try to watch movie on my ASUS DVD E608 using udma the dvd player crashes.
    I'm using the matrox dvd player.
    After switching off the dma I can play dvds but with strange sounds and the picture is choppy, jumping frames etc.

    Specs:
    Soltek SL-75KV+ (via kt-133) Duron 600
    32MB RAM
    G400DH32 - PD 6.04
    Win98se
    using via's chipset driver 4.25a (tried 4.24)

    Anybody has similar DVD-ROM?

    I'm surprised that computer does anything with 32MB of RAM. That's a first concern. Try to quadruple that.
    Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

      Wombat, you're right, I mistyped the RAM amount.
      I've 64MB , but that's not the point.
      The main issue was not to enable automatic pio mode selection in the bios. I've set it to 4 and voila everything work perfect.
      I think that the bios hasn't been able to recognize the correct setting for pio mode.

      Cheers,
