Seti asks you to do it. This lot say we're going to run any junk on your computer and if it trashes it tougth shit. If you turn the pc off you're in the shit.
No doubt other companies will try this on how many by using the back door method by hiding it in the small print will be interesting.

This isn't exactly a new idea. I remember reading about it a while ago, like, maybe a year or so ago.
Juno may be the first to actually implement it, though.

I think companies that make virus scanners should also make/include scanners for 'unwanted services' running on your pc.Comment

But there already are spyware scanners. At least I know of two, the grc.com's anti-Aureate scanner and also the german Ad-Aware that can detect and remove wider variety of spyware.Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.Comment

GRC has dscontinued it's free Optout program (http://grc.com/oo/program.htm) as of March 1, 2001.
GRC Netfilter ($24) replaces it.

What would you choose from these two?
1) having to leave the computer on longer to compute someone's data and get free access to the net
or
2) having to pay for the access (monthly fee) but no computing
