Boot with the win2k cd, choose install, and select repair install when it gets to that point. You won't even have to reinstall your service packs.

What do you mean you don't think you can boot on it? All win2k cd's are bootable. Just set your motherboard bios to boot from the cd, put the win2k cd in the CDROM and boot with it.

There probably all bootable... but i only keep the win2k multiver from my msdn at home.... u know the disk that has win2k pro/server and advanced server on the same disk..... i don't think this one is bootable.

mine isnt bootable.. or atleast, my system doesnt read bootable cds for some reason.

so i use the bootdisk option on the cd, and make a couple boot floppies.

I've copied ntoskrnl.exe from servicepackfiles to system32... maybe it got dammaged by something... if that doesn't solve it i think i'll do a clean install back... that will at least at least get me rid of the softwares i can't uninstall.

You don't have to have SP1 installed to insrall SP2. So just start SP2 install and you are OK.

Cheers JLP. I should be getting w2k very soon and I just wanted to be sure before I started the download having only 56k.

Just installed the SP2 here and everything seems to be OK. I also tested HD speed and it's quite a bit faster now. I guess ATA100 fix really works .

That's weird that's exactly the same error message i have except that i don't dual boot. Thanks anyway, but i already did a clean install and it seem's a lot more stable, maybe there was something broken.

Hmmm my cable modem is getting 43KB/sec and it's still gonna take me 40 minutes

Is it just me, or does everyone get a lot of HTTP Error 500s from Microsoft's site since a month or two ago?
