    * Can a 60mm fan fit on the Vanilla G400?

Subject says it all: Can a 60mm fan fit on the Vanilla G400?

My friend is selling some nice 27CFM 60mm fans and want to pick one up and screw it into my G400 32MB SH OEM heatsink.

Please respond as soon as possible so I can put in my order tonight. Thanks!

I would buy it anyway, Rev.. you can always find a use for it if it doesn't fit.
Hopefully he's not asking too much for them.

Err forgive me from being stupid but why don't you take out your G400 and measure it.

                  1. Case is huge and hard to move out of where I put it.
                  2. No ruler. Need to buy one

Figured someone has tried screwing in a 60mm or bigger fan before so it would save me alot of trouble.

Hi Rev and the rest of the Gang,

I've had a 60mm by 10mm thick fan on my plain G400 for awhile. I just pulled it out of the wife's computer to take some pics for ya'll.

Here's the top view. As you can see it's bigger than the heatsink and actually covers two of the memory chips.

The fan hangs over quite a bit on the one side so you can only use two screws. On the other side I put a couple drops of Super Glue to hold it to the heatsink. It's been running for a month or so like this without any problems at 150/200.
This fan is about 10mm thick and it does block the first PCI slot.

                        Hope this helps, Paul

Awesome, Paul! I have two Indek Elina 60x15mm fans chilling my half-height 9.1GB 10,000 rpm IBM Ultra SCSI hard drive right now. When I sell the hard drive (anyone interested?) I was thinking about putting them on my MAX (when it comes).. perhaps as a sandwich, and replacing the tiny stock fan. They are awesome fans.. this hard drive used to be too hot to touch, now it's actually COLD
