My G400 MAX bios version is 1.3
the latest bios is 1.4, is it interesting to update it to 1.4 ?

Yes, it is. As Chuck said, it gives you greater stability, and for the Max to work (better) with for example the TurboGL drivers you need the latest bios.

      Why to installing new BIOS?

What kind of improvements will I get if I flash my BIOS with the newest one? Is this good for performance boost or just for some extra features or neither?

A new bios usualy means greater stability.
Matrox's windows flash utility is slick & safe, if you follow the directions (i.e. Make a backup.).
        Go for it!

To find out which bios you have goto (programming joke )

Display Properties -> Advanced -> Information

            Mine for instance is 1.5.

Do use the save old BIOS to floppy possibility though, in case the new BIOS does some strange things to your card. Then you can always go back to the last (less problematic) BIOS.

Newer BIOS might also fix some bugs for applications or games... always good to have the latest version. They usualy release these updates for a reason
