New beta driver W98 + video tools (for Marvel G200)???

Is anyone have try to install successly the video tools (I got an Marvel G200 16MB) with the new beta drivers???

I have a Marvel G200, and I get BSODs on Opengl as well as random BSODs from the 5.5. I never tried the VidTools, my patience wore too thin. If you feel brave then go for it. Otherwise I'd recommend just staying with whatever you're using now.

I installed PD5.5 and VT 1.52 and the Matrox Hardware DVD software after first performing a complete uninstall.

I'm pleased to report that everything looks like it works normally. I haven't tried video capture, but the PC-VCR works for viewing TV, and the DVD player works (Even with The Matrix).

I think I found a peculiarity with the HW Decoder: If you enable the PowerDesk Save/Restore Window Positions, that DVD playback can be jerky. (It seems to poll where the windows are every 30 seconds or so; there's no degradation in audio, just a dropped frame or two in video).

Oddly, it seems that the Region Code BIOS settings are not screwed when this combination is used: Haig, care to comment?

Don't you guys think that it could have a reason that Matrox posted the video tools in the same box as the PD5.41 ???

Seriously, don't be surprised when you encounter problems while trying to get the vid-tools running with the new PD5.50.010 ...

But of course there's always a chance to get it running.

You're right Maggi. However, Matrox has always been slow to validate the Marvel\RR-G drivers with the latest PowerDesk releases.

I find it interesting that if the drivers aren't made for the Marvel or the RR-G, then why do they have a Marvel\RR-G .inf file in them? No flame, merely pointing out a fact.

My opinon of the drivers is that they are written very well and Matrox is rightly conservative with not recommending them for the multifunction videocards. Also, we still don't have a WHQL certified driver set for the Marvel/RR-G.

The only other tidbit I can add to my aforementioned post is that OpenGL still crashes after a time, but the error has always been recoverable without rebooting. Usually a Runtime or an Unknown error message pops up with OpenGL based Screensavers.

Well I found my problem, it's my Via Apollo Pro133+ chipset. On a BX, my G200 Marvel
does indeed work (as MultimediaMan stated earlier).
