    5.50.01

When I installed the 5.50.01 drivers for my Matrox G400, I then ran 3d mark 99 max and my 3d mark lowered by about a thousand but when I ran 3d mark 2000, my 3d mark highered by about a 100. I just wanted to point this out to see if that was normal and to know if everybody else has the same problem?

This is normal. PD 5.50.xx is based on DX7 whereas PD5.41 and lower are based on DX6.

Would this account for the big drop in his 3DMark 99 scores?

Yes, because 3Dmark 99 is based in DX6.

But that would mean DX6 based games would run significantly slower with DX7 drivers. I don't think MS would get away with that, it must be a bug in 3DMark 99.

Well, actually it happens in some games too but this is feature specific AFAIK!
