    No VGA output upon boot with G400

    No video until entering Win 98???
    Any suggestions?

    G400 Marvel

    Tried it on my Abit BH-6 and MSI 6163 mobos, same on both.

    Looks like dead BIOS. More info at my website (address in profile). Also, you may want to start with the new Matrox BIOS recovery utility available from Matrox.

      Have you changed the TV output setting of your Matrox bios? If you set it to DOS TV out, it sends a different frequency to the monitor under bootup (50hz or 60hx depending on TV system). You might get a blank screen because the monitor is unable to handle such a low frequency (esp 50hz). It could also be the bios, because in both cases, Windows takes over from the bios upon bootup. Try rewriting the bios from under windows. The progs to do this can be found on both this and the Matrox site.
