The goal of the G800 is that it should support all the features in the upcoming Direct X 8.0, and since the 8.0 isn't out yet......

There are probably also classical market mechanisems involved. Why release the G800 if you can still G400 based (G450) cards. The sooner you start selling G800's, the sooner you'll have to start developing the G1600.

Hehe. If Matrox gets some sort of announcement out in the next few weeks, I may have to forget about the GeForce II and just wait the four months to get one (delay based on my G400Max pre-order to receipt). The wait would probably be worth it, if they delivered that soon, at least if it's as good as my Max has been.

Hmm, G400 waiting. I waited 3 months for my G400 MAX which I ordered at the same time as my 19" monitor. After being told that I would've had to have waited another month or so at least I cancelled my order (and then incidentally picked up a TNT2 32Mb for £5 (~$8)). Been waiting for a prize draw or new product ever since...

Also, anybody else tried 2048x1536 on a TNT2? Bwahahahaha. What's it like on anybody's G400's?

I'd buy a G450 today if it was available. Not because it's revolutionary, but because it is a refinement of my current G400MAX. Oh, and I do happen to have the money right now. I just don't want to spend it on a GeFarse!!!

I'll also find it compulsory to spring for the G800 when it arrives. Yes, I know I'm a sick, sick, person. But, as Dad used to say, "you gotta have priorities". I tend to stick with a company when I like their products. And the G400s I've bought have been really good!

I really don't think the G450 is that much of an advancement. They took one step forward and another back. Advanced its technology with it being .18 and better RAM.. BUT no compatibility with the Rainbow Runner G series.. which is what I consider to be a step back.

The reason I bought my G400 was for the dualhead and multimedia capabilities.. its not too bad for games but the whole dualhead/multimedia conecpt is what makes this card kickass and unique.
