Curious to find out what BeOS was all about I downloaded the Personal Edition (45Mb) and installed it on my c: drive. Unfortunately I can only get it to load in Safe mode otherwise it fails with some Panic: Double strike error or something like that.

I would like to have a good look at this OS but I don't want to play around with hardware settings and mess up my g200 based hardware heavy Windows setup. I realise what a tough job it must be for producers of 'Rival@ OS's to persuade others to take up their product.

im not a big time user of the os because it doesnt support my network card (the way that i connect to the internet) but i was able to get it to run. Vic, have you gone and checked to see that all your hardware is supported from their website?

if you dont have any supported hardware, you may be stuck in safe mode
i myself havent used the program, but you may be interested in getting the new beos driver that FOFT has created, you should be able to find it off of the main page here

Hi,

Download the 5.01 update, it might fix your network problem(s), if not, wait a little for the new network kernel (bone) to be released, it's in final beta testings.

well, Cloudy i grabbed the 5.01 patch...fixed my networking problems, you can see what i did stupidly in the Alternative lifestyles forum.
i wont waste space in a topic that some might say would be better served in the Alternative Lifestyles forum
anyways what happened can be found in one of fofts created posts relating the the BeOS driver he made
