Actually Maggi, that was just supposed to be an example of polite straight-forward conversation aimed in octoman's direction.
I actually had a look around Asus's web site and couldn't find anything that specifically said that it support the DVDMax(?) feature either. So, I for one accept the hypothesis that it doesn't support it until someone proves otherwise.
Concerning the Dell card though, is what I described basically what the DVDMax thingy is supposed to do?
I honestly have very little experience dealing with DVD stuff. I've still got a G200 and I don't have nor do I particularly want a DVD drive so I'm not real sure that I understand what you guys are talking about. My experience is limited to poking at it on my friends computer and we haven't really bothered trying to do anything special with it, or anything at all while movies are playing anyway.

I am testing a v5500 in my system comparing it to my g400max. (on a p3-800@896)

I am also surprised at the 2d and 3d video quality compared to my g400max. Framerates increased significantly, and with 2x-fsaa games look noticably better and are still much faster.

I still haven't decided to keep it or not, but this winter the g800 and new cards from nvidia and 3dfx look very good.

Thing is that he didn't reply before I posted (and didn't until now)
so I could only anser to you that time.
If you noticed my comment to your postscriptum, you could have imagined that you basically said everything that I would said to Octoman.

Only part of it ...

Playing DVD fullscreen on a TV is one basic function that should be the job of your TV Player software. Hardware decoder cards usually have their own video connection so that's no big deal.
When your VGA card offers a video output port, it had to have the capability to transmit a different signal than on your VGA monitor, since you mentioned having the movie windowed on VGA while seeing it fullscreen on TV.

The difference is that in DVD Max I'm free to do anything (as long as my CPU is strong enough) while the G400 transmits every video overlay in fullscreen to my TV.
