Age old question: standard vs Max

I was all set to buy a G400 Max. (I know I’m a little late to the party)
I place the order and waited
    and waited
    and waited.

On Friday I finally got tired of waiting and changed my order to a standard 32Mb DH G400, being assured that it could come in much sooner that the Max.

Also I’ve noticed on the Matrox website that in the mid to low resolution there is no difference in the refresh rates of the G400 and the Max.

I don’t plan to set the resolution higher than 1280 X 1024 and I don’t play very many games.

I guess what I’m asking here is; did I make the right decision?

Right now I’ve got an OEM 16Mb SH G400 that I’m giving to my GF.

Have any of you worked with the standard G400 and the Max and noticed much difference at midrange resolutions?

If you do not play game or need to use really high refresh rates, then yes you made a good choice. You did not need the MAX
