Yeah, I agree with kjliew.
Matrox was able to get even better 2d quality and scores by bypassing the GDI calls, but as has been stated, if you do that, you don't get the WQHL Cert from MS.

GDI-Bypassing doesn't make any difference in 3D.my system:
