Drivers 6.04 fixed memory leak in Win98

Subject line says it.

I run a "free memory" monitor. Until this latest release, I would see the monitor report less and less free memory available as I ran apps.

Now I see that memory is released after I run an app. Nice side-effect is less crashing

Great Catch, Fury! I wasn't planning to upgrade from the beta 6.01 drivers because I though the only difference was the v-sync. But if it helps memory management, it will definitely be worth it.

Haig, is this truely a designed in feature of the new drivers?

While 6.04 fixed the leak, it hasn't solved all problems.

Just after I posted the above message, I played Q3 WFA 1.1. After about 10 minuttes, it crashed to desktop.

I was able to change resolution and continue without further incident (played on another server just fine).

This last may bee motherboard related (ASUS p3v4X).

I'm happy that I don't need to reboot so often.

Don't see that mouse, monitor, HD or CDs matter.

Actually CD and HD can matter (esp. if IDE) some have issues with others

Have 2 CDR's, one SCSI PX-R412C, one IDE PX-W84332T.

All HD are SCSI.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you. I'm having a similar problem. Last night I thought I would try out the Quake Arena demo to see if I had any problems. When I tried Demo1, it ran about 2/3 of the way through then crashed back to the desktop, which was reduced to 16 colors. But strangely, Demo2 ran just fine both as a demo and as a "timedemo 1". (I got 23.7 fps on my trusty old K6-3 450/G400 rig if you want a rather dated reference point.)

Thanks RAB, I use MURC to get to the forums and didn't even notice the listed drivers.
