    is there a utility or visual method to distinguish between the two types of ram????

    Sure. Look at the memory chips, if there are pins on all four sides then it's DDR. SDR has pins on only two sides.

      The DDR RAM on the G450s have pins in only 2 sides.
      The only way to know for sure is to get the numbers off of the chips, and look up those numbers.
      What kind of card is this on?

        i got a g450 for a new KA7 system i'm building.performance is great.
        i had bad luck with my processor(got sold a remarked athlon),and i noticed some 16mb g450's listed on pricewatch with sdr.i was comparing my new g450 32mb with a g400dh 32mb i have on another system.
        i don't know if it was here or elsewhere that i read about the pins on 4 sides thing,maybe a review somewhere,and i guess after looking the cards over i got curious.
        i'm going to have some time next week to run some benchmarks and compare results so that will be the pudding.
