Millenium G450 PCI = more than "just" two monitors?

Before I realised that there were only AGP DualHead cards I wondered what would happen if you put two (or more) Matrox cards with DualHead in one Win2k (or other OS) machine. I made a post about it a while back but retracted once I found out that the PCI breed didn't exist.

Now that the Mill. G450 has been announced, what are the possibilities?! 4 monitors? More, even?

Can't you go up to 8 monitors? I can't remember. I'll see if I can find out...

Ah, just found out that officially:

          For NT 4.0 = 16 monitors

          For 2K = 10 monitors

          For 98/ME = 9 monitors

My motherboard, (An abit BH6) has 1 agp and 5 pci, so oh, call it 12 monitors (grin)

12*32=384, hmm, thats more video memory than I have system memory, (256)

On another note, will the G400 work in an AGP Pro slot, or is it likely to go nuts?

            Colin

                I have 5 pci slots
                *grin*
o.k. so NT may freak... but who cares
and in reality 4xquad-MMS-G200 is going to be better than your mix,

still not found an answer to my question *sigh*

if the limit of Powerdesk is 17,
                  G400SH
                  and 4 quads.

Colin Morey, my G400 works fine on the Asus A7V (AGP pro slot). Just be sure to leave the plastic protection oven the non-used connectors and it´ll be fine...

WTF, have you seen prices for hte G450 PCI ??? $190 US + $5 shipping for the 16 mb version!!! To me, that is FRAUD... I'm not willing to pay more than $150 CAN ($100 US) for such a board... If at least the G450 came equipped with 128-bits DDR-SDRAM... hum...G800... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I'm going crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what's the significance of the little sticker?? dust protection?

It's a sticker, but also there's a plastic plug beneath it. It stops you putting a 'normal' AGP card in the wrong place in an AGP Pro slot.
