Well as I understood it from what TDFKAAME posted here G800 = TCFKAG hence a name change for it which maybe from the iXBT posting the G550, what was to come later in the year was something completely new.

          well,

displacement mapping is able to give us good effects, but if that implies a big drop in FPS i'm not sure i'm agree. Remember EMBM.

Question : The EMBM was a feature of DX6. Is DBM a feature of DX8

My Babelfish doesn't speak Russian either, I guess. But as far as the story there goes, it's something like this:

22-march against [at, for, into, on, on, onto, per, upon] [Game] [Development] [Conference] (GDC) [Matrox] carry [conduct, draw, drive, hold, navigate, show out, usher] about [after, against, around, at, by, over, per, under] after [from, since, syne, with] card [chart, map, mapping]([displacement] [mapping]). Ahum, hope you can read between the lines

Ant: You say TCFKAG is likely to be delayed because the G450-eTV is delayed... what if they have delayed the G450-eTV because they've brought TCFKAG forward in the batting line up?

I know this isn't very likely.

Babble fish translated the column as stating:

Matrokh - new technology in the new chip - RashIron @ of 00:46 22- GO of March on the din Of development To chonferenche (GDCH) Of matrokh will carry out lecture on the textures with the maps/charts/cards of displacement (displachement of mapping). In contrast to the relief textures, the texture with the maps/charts/cards of displacement they influence the geometry of object. If it is simple: there is a texture, there is an object, there is a map/chart/card of displacement and this is what is obtained with their combination:

The same effect it is possible to attain, by using sheydery DKH8. thus far this technology by apparatus supports not one of the existing chips for the mass user. Matrokh wants to correct this situation: this technology will be used in its new chip - G550. of more detailed and precise information about the new chip thus far no. But at the lecture Of matrokh everything it will explain, 4 I think.
P.S. image problem was I had an extra ']' at the end of the link.

It's already delayed, the leaked roadmap showed it as due for launch Summer 2000.

I think they should have done away with this whole G-numbering thing and gone back to good old fashioned names. Matrox Millenniun 2001 anyone?

Jorden: Perhaps it's a really really fast card and they're trying to liken it to Ferrari's F550 Maranello. :P

Hmmm.... Matrox Maranello G550 DualHead??? Should I go do up a fake PR poster for it?

Well I guess the G550 or whatever sounds like a halfway decent product that will hold us over for a bit. I guess that the true G800 will have FCRAM later in the year when its more affordable .
