Ahem, nitpicking correction.

The french army under Napoleon actually made it to Moscow. In fact the Russians burnt Moscow to avoid that the French capture it and restock provisions. The French died on their way home. The Germans never managed to get to Moscow. But they also died. And both, French and Germans, were stupid to try such a thing.

Nuff said.
