    force a card to 4X?

    I have a G450, Asus CUSL2-C witha p3-733.
    If I go above 140mhz, I go from 4x to 2x
    I have a program called agpswitch, but it
    only has 1x and 2x settings. Is their a
    program that can force the card to 4x

      There is a reason it is going from 4x to 2x.
      You are overclocking the AGP bus. This will cause instabilities at 4x. The Matrox drivers are dropping to 2x because the card is failing the boot-up test at 4x.
      However, if you still want to try, get Matrox's tech support tweak utility (MTSTU), which will give the option to force 4x.

      It won't matter either way. 4x is no faster than 2x...

          I understand that the reason that is happening is due to the specifications of the Asus CUSL2-C board itself which automatically reduces the agp from x4>x2 at any fsb over 140!

              Found a progaram called WPCRedit which
              can tweak the memory....might give it a try

                      It is an issue of i815E(P) chipset, it switches AGP to 2x automatically when u use FSB over 140MHz for stability factors. And since the performances of AGP 4x and 2x are very similar, u are better u leave it at 2x.

                          Tried it at 4x and 2x, hard to tell the differance...will leave it at 2x if I go over 140mhz
