Pls Help, 2short beeps, one long, no boot

Hi all. I get one long beep, 2 short beeps, a pause, followed by 2 lower toned, even length beeps with the second one lower still. It happens when I power up the computer, and when it happens, (regularly now), I get no screen at all, and the monitor light doesn't change from orange to green. I don't have another video card to swap right now, so I can't see if that is it. And I bought my G400 almost 2 years ago, so it's most likely not gonna be in warranty. It could be other things tho, so what do you all think?? Specs are in sig.

    Thanx.

Is it in the slot properly?

Isn't that the sound you hear when the monitor is not connected?
Or it does happen when there's no graphics card too?

Yes it is in the slot, I have pulled it, cleaned the contacts, and put it back in, making sure it is seated. I have done this several times. It is becoming annoying. Without trying a new monitor, processor, motherboard, etc,how do I verify that it is the video card??

I really wanna hold out buying a new video card,as the ones just on the horizon seem tres cool.

        Thanx again for the help.

ps, Im replying from work,as I have too much trouble at home.

You could verify by testing in another machine... and it should be under warranty still... it's 3 years

              Hi!

The same thing happened to me last week. But I had another graphics card at hand and I verifyed that my G400 MAX is dead .

It is true that they have a 3 year warranty, just contact Matrox Tech Support in Canada and they will transfer you to their RMA Department. Give them your e-mail address and the serial of the card (will usually consist of 3 letters followed by 5 digits). And they will send you a form by e-mail. Fill that and send it back they will e-mail you with an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorisation) number and the return address.

              Hope this helps you!

C.M.I.A.W but if it's the graphichs card the error "beep" should be 1 long beep followed by 2 short ones! Right?

just had a thougt, could it be the monitor cable? say a cracked wire or a short in the cable? Will the system boot without the monitor plugged in?

A cable doesn't need to be connected to the Gcard for the system to be booted.
