    G400 Tweaking...

    Hi everyone!
    I've downloaded the
Matrox Technical Support Tweak Utility...and I want to increase
the clock speed..but..I don't want to damage the card!
Oh, I don't know the effects of a wrong move!

I'm using W2000 ...and I'm afraid to try and throw away the G400!!!!

    Some helps??

    Thanks

Its safe to go to around 110% on stock cooling without fear that the card might get damaged ... also, you could try MGATweak, it offers more options than the MTSTU ...

Hmmm, i feel that that's too much of a generalization. 1st revisions of the G400 would probably get pretty hot at even just 110%.

But later revisions will go up and over the 120% mark with just a tiny bit of extra cooling.

What's best is to overclock a little at a time, and test the system for instability and/or visual anomalies (weird polygons, strange pixels that shouldn't be there). If all seems well than you overclock a bit more, and so on.

      happy overclocking, Good Luck.
      Primary system specs:
      Asus A7V266-E | AthlonXP 1700+ | Alpha Pal8045T | Radeon 8500 | 256mb Crucial DDR | Maxtor D740X 40gb | Ricoh 8/8/32 | Toshiba 16X DVD | 3Com 905C TX NIC | Hercules Fortissimo II | Antec SX635 | Win2k Pro

Actually some of the early G400s were amongst the best overclockers.

I recall the early G400s regularly being o/c'ed above 120%. I felt somewhat left out of the o/c'ing fun because the Max strained to o/c 110%.

I have tried both 4.18 and Mgat tweaks for G400 & G400max. I did have somekind of problems with matrox own because it didn“t let me tweak as much i liked. But with Mgat i can get 133% increase with G400max (according to 4.18).
            3Dmk2k 3000>3600 16bit/ 2200>2700 32bit
3Dmk2k1 1200>1600. I also checked my temps (+28 - +40 Celcius)very carefully not to destroy it.4.18 is much easier to use and i use it as a monitor.
