Ouch!!! I didn't need to hear that.

I'm amazed at the dust accumulation in my PC after only a month or two. I thought things would have gotten better after replacing our house windows but it didn't seem to make any difference. I shoot the inside of my PC with compressed gas any time I open it up to work on it. Maybe if I didn't have those 120 mm fans going 24x7.

Its amazing what a simple filter can do. I have a dustfilter installed in front of my intake fan. Whenever I vacum the room, I just give the filter a good sucking. It takes care of 85% of the dust build up.

Actually I haven't seen case filters. Maybe I should pick up a K&N.

I use a modified Vacuum Cleaner filter on my two inlet fans.

Seeing the state of them after two months proves they are working!

Hmm, a K&N would look cool, tho, esp. if you had it on show!

I haven't seen filters in consumer PCs but I've been pretty much a hermit the last three years. I'll check the stores and see what's available. I wouldn't want to install something that reduced the air-flow significantly.

a lot of the cases i use now, (supermicro, coolermaster) are starting to use filters,.. you can get away with a lot of things as filters, heck, even an old pair of tights

I would suggest a high effeciency 3M type (or similar) home air filter cut down to size... my reasoning for using a Auto air filter is that they are hepa high flow types. Mine is a Fram CA 3660 which measures 5.25" x 10.75" x 1.675" (13.33cm x 27.3cm x 4.25cm) and is mounted below the case (where the radiator intake is). Cost, a tad under $5 at Walmart.

I've got an area arcing from about 1" to 1 1/2" thick in front of my 120 mm intake fan opening and behind the front facade. I'll see what high efficiency filters will fit that space.
