Not on this planet. A dollar is worth just over 1.05 Euros right now. Still that puts P at around 420 Euros. So, about $25 more.

But... it's still 417,23 Euro, and NOT 445,80...

Taxes, and the fact that Matrox has to have the cards shipped there, most likely. Probably more expensive for Matrox to operate in Europe as well.

Still, that's a lot less of a mark-up than most hardware. It usually seems that in the UK they pay the same amound in pounds as we pay in dollars.

My old G400MAX was made (and sold/mailed) in Ireland.

They had one, but that was three years ago. I honestly have no idea if it's still there - it may not have been worth the retooling cost, or a thousand other things.

The problem is VAT & import duties + shipping & employment costs. They are usually way higher in Europe. Here in Belgium for instance wa pay 21% VAT.

When I calculate enduser price for the bulk cards based on the info I got from one of our suppliers I'm manageing around €520 - but still it is pre-order & prices can change... Shopmatrox is conveniently down at the moment...

But 549.00 EUR is way too expensive!

that's why it's called pre-order. It gives the mfr. an idea what kind of resources to allocate to production though...
Personally, I'd wait for reviews & availability - the prices always come down when the products are available in large enough quantities...
