    Matrox demos on a Geforce4

Uninstalled my Parhelia because of an issue Haig is aware of, and installed a Ti4200 Geforce4. Anyway , while I had uninstalled all the Matrox drivers and utilities, silly me , I forgot to uninstall the demos. What the heck I fired up the Character Displacement Mapping demo and the Bass demo .

Character (Alien)- The base mesh wasn't N-Patched or displacement mapped. So the characters instead of lanky alien and lizard guy, were fat (base mesh) alien and fat lizard hehe

Bass- The bass was almost half rendered. Apparently because of the 4 texture units on the Parhelia versus the 2 on a Geforce4 , parts of the bass were missing ..

Thought you'd get a kick out of that

So matrox doesn´t do that silly gpu-check in their techdemos anymore.
apart from that, it just shows that the parhelia has some features a gf4ti hasn´t, which isn´t a suprise.

about the bass, could it be because of matrox 5-stage pixelshader versus gf4tis 2 stage pixelshader?

how is your review going by the way, Im looking forward to read an indepth non-rushed review.

it's unfortunately on hold, at least till a issue is worked out. But it was a trip watching the demos on another card, as most AtI and NVIDIA demos don't necessarily work on other cards

I think it is because the demo is coded in standard directx, as opposed to nvidia who use opengl(with special nv-extensions).

That could be it. Also ATI demos use Pixel Shader 1.4 which they are the only vendor at the moment to use.
