Yes. They can be easily & cheaply built with wood and a fair amount of grounding. When I worked for Long Communications Group we had a few customers with restricted cash to implement AV systems where such were made for in situations like this.

all our audio gear when i was at uni was mounted in 19" racked flight cases,.. you can get the metal strips from places like RS and maplin(in the UK certainly).

It is a lie that you need a big desk for this, you just need enoug money to get 3 LCDs.

The workbench this system is on is just over 9 feet (2.75m) long and 26 inches (.66m) deep, but there is one other system on it at the other end. The other side of the room has a 10 foot (3.04m) bench with four other PC systems on it.

There are two PC's and two Amiga Video Toaster systems downstairs. All are networked using 100 mbit switches for now, but we're going gigabit soon.

Hey! I used to love Amigas. My hold-out against MS. Had Windows 1.1 at the office that drove me nuts! Still got an Amiga 1000 around here somewhere.

AZ, I got that Ikea Effectiv desk system, a 2.4 m x3.20 m. L shape. Room for 3 monitors in the corner, 2 printers, scanner and plenty of space in between. The T legs leave lots of free space underneath and the steel undercarriage is good for running cable. Can carry plenty of weight. Not exactly cheap, but don't think you can get anything like it for the price.

I had one with the standard legs (don't think T legs were available back when I bought it), 160x80 cm.

I like that they all fit together - take an 80 cm deep standard desk, add an L-shaped rounded part with one 80cm and one 60cm end to it, and top that off with a half-circle end. (You get the idea)

The effektiv desks have become much cheaper over the last few years. I paid ~300 EUR for my desk (excluding that little drawer thingy, cost ~250 EUR - or vice versa, cannot remember), now they cost just about ~190 EUR for the desk, and way less than I paid for storage elements.

Still, I'd get one tabletop and four legs - almost same stability, way better price, and if you don't need fancy curves or combinations - go for it

I don't like T legs (they don't fit in my scheme well). I was considering IKEA as well but it was:
- more expensive
- it would involve driving to Austria (Graz), paying VAT here and collecting "Melversteuer" tax return from the store.

I payed 200€ for two desks and 2×4 legs.

If you "import" something more convenient than furniture and skip the paying the VAT stage here ...

Yeah and my Router and Cable Modem are next to it. I finally be able to use it more when I get my USB KVM switch in a couple days...I'll use on of the 19in Satellites as a monitor and be able to switch between the two. I wonder if I'll have any problems with the Parhelia using it
