Although it may have been Matrox that asked for the thread to be pulled, and I'm not too happy about it, I can see why.

In circumstances like this, where a company may be on a knife edge, it doesn't need its user base (particularly such a loyal and very knowledgeable one, as this) speculating on the downsides of the situation, else the thread itself becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because potential buyers will hold off buying any of their products, and the money for development dries up.

However, I do think that they could have handled this issue a little better.
