Enabling fast writes on Parhelia

Since the BIOS of Tyan TigerMPX is slightly less common, I disabled fast writes prior to installing drivers.

After checking with WCPUID I noticed they were off and BIOS support was disabled.

After enabling Fast Writes override (At firs I thought override means disable) I noticed they show as supported by the BIOS but not enabled by drivers. How do I enable them.

I also tried reinstalling Matrox drivers and they're still disabled.

In short you can't manually enable it... the drivers autodetect whether this will work or not and sets it accordingly. You're in the same boat I'm in, but don't dispair, only a few FPS are lost

Powerstrip lets you manually enable it.

You can also do it by editing Windows registry.
Find any keys, values or data regarding FastWrite. There should be several lines of them.
I changed all of their values to "1" and 3DMark2001 tells me that FastWrites are enabled.

Don't tell me, 3DMark2001 checks in the registry if FastWrites are enabled? ;-)

Not sure, but also 3DMark03 tells me the same.
Is there any way to check if they are enabled (that can be trusted)??

wcpuid should also accurately report whether fastwrites are on or off

I checked with WCPUID.

WRT to Powerstrip, I tried 3.30 and 3.45 neither could do it.

I'll try old regedit.

I dislike powerstrip and I just need a tool to lock refresh rates.

What are my options?

Refreshlock is another redundant taskbar Icon, Reforce is a one time utility.

What does Matrox Monitor Manager do?

Matrox Monitor Manager lets you set awesome custom monitor profiles!

As for using Powerstrip, you have to uncheck "read-only". Then you can indeed enable Fast Writes. WCPUID confirms...
