G400 problem

Hello,

I've had an Epox 8RDA running with a Matrox G400 without problems until I decided to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 2000 a couple of days ago.

Now I experience the following problems:
1) Drag&drop in explorer is slow and jerky, particularly when in list view and in directories with many files
2) Tray icons only display in 16 colors

I've tried installing the latest g400 / nforce2 drivers and also the ones I had previously installed. But without success. Anyway, I noticed that I experience the problems even if I don't have the drivers installed.

If I lower the hardware acceleration options in display properties issue 1 will disappear.

Any ideas?

I've found out the following in the mean time: if I set "Force Bitmap Caching OFF" in the "Matrox Technical Support Tweak Utility" the first problem would be solved.

Any ideas?
