G400max and AGP

Hi everyone,

i recently bought a barebone from Elitegroup.The EZ-Buddie D1S4-2.
It is the -- SiS® 651 + 962 chipset with socket 478 , so it supports Celeron and Pentium.
And the AGP Port supports AGP4X Mode.
And now the Question.

Does this card a g400 MAX with this Product Code G4+MMDHA32GR

work on the board??
And where (Europe)can i buy a TV adapter ? Is there a way to build one???

That's an earlier revision of the G400. It might work as is, or you might need to do a simple mod to the card to get it to work.

Search these forums for "r68*" (without the quotes), and you will find several threads about how to mod the card...

I think i will use my 30w solder kit :P.

I hope the retail version ships with the TV Adapter because i have no idea where to buy this thing!

Matrox has schematics on their site on the pin-out faq. It's very easy to solder one yourself.

Yes i know but i need the plugs........so it could be kinda hard

The card should come with the cable.
If not, it's available separatly on shopmatrox.com.

Yes i ordered one from them and it cost more in packaging than the actual article...what comes with living on the other side of the pond.

Edit: to zool, don't you have any old monitors or such anywhere? some one might have one, and you could get the connector there...

hehe i bought one at ebay and it has all the rgb cables and connectors !!!

so i only got to do the resistor mod!!

You're lucky, Zool. I'm actually waiting for my ebay'd G400. Hopefully it comes sometime next week. Though I'm only getting it to pop into my old server, so I shouldn't really need to mod it for anything.

It's going into my Abit BP6 board that runs linux.

the guy that sold the card at ebay said that the card actually worked in his agp 4x computer. maybe i'm lucky and i don't have to do the resistor mod!

Yeah it depends on the motherboard voltage detection circuitry. Some systems it works without the mod, some you need to do it.

i don't understand the whole thing..........can i simply try if the detection works or not??
i'm afraid that I actually fry my mobo?

where does it say that it can fry your mobo?

just try running it before you solder because it most likely is not needed.
