    Video memory?

    Hi there,
I have Matrox G200 with 8MB memory, the game
I'm playing is Rainbow Six, and I feel the
game speed is a little bit slow, my friend
said that I have to upgrade to 16MB.
So, should I do that? Will the 16MB memory
provides better performance for my game?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi ym99!

I've played Rainbow 6 on my 8MB G200 and I never had any video-related trouble.
I think you'll gain no performance with that upgrade. (but I may be wrong)
The card won't be faster just because the more memory.

    regards

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOON'T waste your money on a video Ram upgrade!

R6 plays just fine on my G200 8mb (and even better on my G400 MAX, niarf).
Post your specs and I may tell you what is giving you slowdowns.

        Thanks guys!
        You just saved my money!
(I almost click the "Buy Now")

Ok, I think the slow maybe because I have an
        old machine - regular P233/mmx, 64MB mem,
        300MB free disk spaces.
Maybe I have to upgrade my CPU to PII.
But, is the 3d game really needs such fast CPU?

Well I do believe you should also post at wich resolution you are playing rainbow.
          Because I had a P200MMX with 64mb Sdram and a 3dfx Voodoo1.
It was really smooth on 640x480!
So another post and I may help you ;-)

            Ah!
I played at 640x480 too, but it doesn't smooth...
BTW, my G200 can not work with the "bus mastering(?)", because I can not set an IRQ
to it. Maybe this is the problem?
Or I really have to change my video card?

              Bingo!
              That is it.
              Fix it first.

As usually Cjolley is right, don't expect anything from a G200 without an IRQ!!!
