    New drivers: no TurboGL?

    Alright..

I never installed the 5.50 beta drivers. So I upgraded from 4.51 to the 5.501 drivers.

I read in these forums that TurboGL is not needed anymore. Does that mean I have to remove the Opengl.dll and G400icd.dll from all my games directories? Or just let them stay there? Are they replaced by the newest 5.501 drivers?
If I remove them, then I just get the message that it needs opengL in Q3 and halflife. When I replace them it works as it used to work.
I don't see any performance increase.

Now I'm all confused, can somebody explain this all here?

    Thank you!

Yes. Delete the opengl32.dll from your game directories.

But, umm... why did you have g400icd.dll in your game directories?

      TurboGl installed them...

But as soon as I remove the OpenGl32.dll files and startup the game it will complain about not having any supported OpengL card..

Reboot and try it again. If that doesn't work, I would unistall and reinstall the new beta drivers.

I assume you were using PD 5.41 before upgrading to the 5.50.1 betas. PD 4.51 is an actual Matrox release. Most G200 users are extremely familiar with them.

          Gurm,

Thanx, i never read the README.TXT. =) I was wondering if i should move to the ICD over TurboGL after reading some forums. =)

I don't pretend to speak for Gurm, but I suspect he would agree that it depends on the resolutions you play OpenGL games in. TurboGL is optimized for speed at 800x600 and lower. The ICD, attached the new betas, can be faster at 1024x768.

I don't mess with the Z-buffer. Unfortunately, it actually works with the G400, and the speed hit is just too much.

So, does it look to you like Faran's ICD is in his game folder and, maybe, not in his Windows folder where it belongs?

Well for me the TGL + 5.30 combo is about 25% faster than the regular ICD in the 5.50.01 drivers on my SS7 platform. Even at 1024x768x32bit.

                    Andrei,

I think you use the 32 bit Z-Buffering option, try to disable it... your corrupted screen will no longer be corrupted.
