win2k + counterstrike

i have a small problem with counterstrike don't know if it is just me or if it happens with other ppl also

using win2k with that latest matrox certified driver and a g400 dh oem 32meg

my problem is...when i am in a game running d3d and i press escape the screen is all black and i can't see anything..

if i switch the video setting to opengl, that problem is solved, but whenever i try to quit the game...the hl.exe crashes..

I am just wondering if other ppl has the same problem and if anybody has posted a fix for it that i have missed

DO NOT run in it D3D, just run it in OpenGL, you will notice the diffirence... most of the problems will be solved too.

DH on? reinstall the game... make sure for latest drivers.. did all the standard things?
