    games at 640*480 = oval screen

    Hi

    When i play games which need to be run a t 640 * 480 (and when i tested windows at that res) the screen goes curved at the sides.

    what is going wrong and how do i fix it?

    The monitor is a compaq 171fs and it doesnt have controls for shape of screen just size and postiosoin

      Vauxmad, two things you could try:

      1) Look at the back of the monitor. Do you see turnable knobs there? (could be screws as well) If not, goto 2)
      If so, these are the knobs to set the rest of the screen.

      2) Doubleclick on the Quickdesk icon in the system tray (or rightclick on the desktop screen, choose properties). Choose Advanced, Monitor Settings, Select Customizations from the Matrox List, Compaq, then either 151/171FS Asset Management or just 151/171FS.
      You can check here if your monitor is working okay.

          What type of monitor do you have?
          That sounds like a monitor adjustment.

              EXACT same problem on my compaq 171 FS, the only solution i found was to drop it from 85 Hz to 60 Hz, and that didn't even work all the time.......
              it doesn't appear to affect any other card i tried it on tho, so i guess its specific to the G400......
