    MGI tech support TFC server

    Hi guys,

Just installed HL TFC on the Matrox MGI tech support server.

I would like to know if there are any good TFC maps that are not included with the stander HL
Update, which we should have on the server?

Also do any of you know good remote administrator software for HL?

    Thank you for any input.

Most admins use RCON (I'll look to see where you can get it).

Some good extra maps (non-vALVe) are TotalWar, Betrayed (hunted variation). You can also put the regular HL death-match maps in the rotation. Oh, crossfire is another good one.

Go to PlanetFortress.com to get all kinds of info.

I'll try to swing by tonite. With the server password locked, you won't have to worry about goofballs, but it'll also be tough to get enough people to fill the server...

Other good servers, Rymatics, Pffierland, or pretty much anything with TPF in the title (TPF stands for Team Play First). There tend to always be admins around to boot the punks.

I'd like to see "hunted","push", and "cz2" pulled from the rotation. A few people like hunted and cz2 (but not many), but I've never seen anyone who likes push.

I agree with Kruzin on Hunted, cz, and push. They aren't that great of maps.

For remote admin, I like to use Server Watch 2.0. It's not the best but it's simple and easy to use. I don't have a direct link but you can d/l off my clan site:

As for maps, I suggest the following Valve maps:

                          2fort
                          well
                          dustbowl
                          crossover2
                          warpath
                          rock2
bounce (HL DM map but still very fun for TFC)

3rd party maps that are very good:
                          shutdown2
                          totalwar
                          curse2
                          bozz
                          rats_ctf
                          2morfort
                          creek
                          nml
                          spacedout
                          citadel11
                          sniperzone

Please keep (or add) Badlands. It's a great map for engineers and spies!

I disagree about Hunted. Of course, I'm a sniper and I love to shoot the fat man...

Shutdown is a great map, but takes a ton of teamwork. I'm not too fond of the Rats maps (or turkeyburgers type things).

For a novelty map, there's Pull (where the civilian is a skeet target). Fun for a diversion.

Other than that, I'm always up for new maps.

Keep in mind that with a locked server, we can't have maps that are too large as there will be no way to play defense. 2Fort sized maps are best on a locked server. You can still play them with 6 or 8 people.

I still haven't gotten to stop by - have we had good crowds on the server so far?

I'm dying to check in. When do people usually play? I'm usually on around 5:00CST until 7:00CST and then sometimes after dinner. Weekends during the day.

Thanks Over_Kill for adding TFC! Your server is almost as fast as Gamespy's - 73 ping for me.

Agreed with Kruzin on removal of cz2 etc.

I like the DHCP map rotation:
                              - Dustbowl
                              - The Well
                              - Badlands
                              - The Rock
                              - Warpath
                              - Crossover
                              - 2Fort
                              - Mystery Map

Any possibility of unlocking the server to make it more popular?
