Heheh, isn't it too risky to try? Still hunting down a good brand. How's Epox and ASUS? I heard Intel brands are too limited in CMOS. Any opinions to use with my current setup?

Stick with ASUS or ABIT. ABIT's Soft MenuIII has great options for overclocking. And you will get plenty of help with those two brands since they are the most popular.

ALBPM: Well, I am not an overclocker type . However, I should get plenty of flexiblities in case I have problems in the future.

How's the technical support for ASUS and ABIT? DFI's is awful!

ASUS probably has ABIT beat for support. The ASUS P3B-F or the ABIT BE6-II are good boards for your slot P3.

You know what I noticed? Even if my games were stable at 83 Mhz bus speed, I noticed texture flickers (not fruity color types) in Unreal Tournament and Half-Life. One time so far, Diablo 2 had a black wall! None of my games had crashed at this speed though.

I wonder if that means my AGP (Matrox G400 32 MB; non-MAX) is being overclocked or is it something else? What do you guys think? Yeah yeah, get a new mobo :P. I am still researching!

I ran this program twice, and it gave errors and eventually a halt. Bah! Oh well, at least it doesn't take long to crash my computer hehe.

Remember the similar problem that I was having: Pretty much all games crashing?

I worked out a solution. I played around with my ram slots. BTW my mobo only runs at PC100 Ram speeds.

Origional Config:
Slot 1: 64MB PC133 Old Ram Chip
Slot 2: 64MB PC100 New Ram Chip
Result: Games Crash

Config 2
Slot 1: 64MB PC100
Slot 2: 64MB PC133
Result: No Post, No Boot.

Config 3
Slot 1 Only: 64MB PC100
Result: No Post, No Boot.

Config 4
Slot 1 Only: 64MB PC133
Result: No Problems, No Crashes, Games work fine.

Final Solution: Went Back to BestBuy and got exchanged my 64MB stick for a new one. Then, I put the new chip (which is slower) in Slot 1 and the old PC133 chip in Slot 2. So far, 5 days later, no problems with any games. UT runs like a gem.

sbstrd: Hmmm! I tried switching slots with old and new RAM modules. It doesn't seem to help at all. I even tried each module by itself. Hmm! I never had problems when POST doesn't boot. Which brand of RAM did you have? I have a generic (PC100) and Kingston (supposedly a good brand) PC133.

Well, almost the oppisote for me. My old PC133 is generic, but my new PC100 (even the one I returned) is PNY. Although, something to note, the chip that I got to replace the bad chip was manufactured differently (possibly from a different manufacture than the PNY chip that went bad).

Time to resurrect this super long thread again! :P I replaced the DFI motherboard with an ASUS P3B-F. Hmm, I am still having problems! Wahh! [bangs head some more]. Ugh, now what to do?!

Have you flashed the CMOS with the latest BIOS revision in the new MB?

Remember, DOS and Linux still puke so it is not just Windows. Check the old posts in this thread. Actually, Burnp6 now hard locks my computer instead of blue screen of death but at a faster rate (about 30 seconds).
