I had weird problems with a BX board. When I replaced it, the problems went away. You might have a bad MotherBoard. (BTW, HL is wierd; with the latest drivers, I still get problems with Stiletto, aka PowerPro.)
Can't be the BX board. :P If it was, I would have more problems .

      Antdude,

Do yourself a favor and try the sticks of RAM individually. I saw this exact problem with halflife when I had a bad stick of RAM.

Rags: When I had 128 MB of RAM before the big upgrade, I still had this problem on on both brands.

I forgot to note that going to menu and returning to game sometimes corrupts my graphics (i.e. fruity color textures).

Hmm, weird. Installing TurboGL driver for HL seems to stabilize it. The game hasn't crashed no matter how many times I alt-tab. I can't alt-tab in the gameplay, but can in game menu. When I do alt-tab in the game menu to my 640x480 16-bit desktop and return to game, the game screen doesn't show up but I can hear audio. So, I hit esc and resume game and lala the game screen is back! I no longer get fruity colors either.

          Sheesh, this is really weird!

            Antdude,

The corruption you see when leaving to menu and returning is known. Everyone gets this. Other cards have this problem too.

As far as your memory goes, that doesn't mean that your 128 stick isn't choking up.

Do use the console or the menu driven TFC?

Just fire up TFC, play around a bit, hit escape, then reenter the game. Play around some more and see the great textures.

Actually, it is any mods, addons (including Opposing Force), maps, etc.

I noticed HL v1.1.0.4 will be out next week, but I noticed there is no mentioned of video fixes.
