Trouble with Pdesk 6x and OPENGL

    Hi all,
    can any G400 users help me with this problem;

I can only get OPENGL games and screensavers to work with powerdesk versions
    5x (not using TurboGL).

Any of the newer Powerdesk 6x versions just locks up my system or sends me
back to the desktop at 640x480.
Also just updated my G400 BIOS from the factory 1.5 - 22 to the latest 1.9 - 33
and the problem is still there. No OPENGL with ANY of the Pdesk 6x drivers.

With all the 5x ones I have OPENGL for screensavers/games and DX Diag
reports only that the g400.vxd isnt certified.

I just tried the Pdesk 604 which is WHQL certified, now DX diag shows all
files ok, but still no OPENGL. Ive also tried the; Pdesk 610 and Pdesk621
    but with the same results.

Unless you can suggest otherwise it looks like Ill have to stick with the 5x
ones, namely the most recent PDesk 5.55

Probably some leftovers from your previous driver installations ...

How did you uninstall PD5.x ?

    Cheers,

          Lo all,

Maggi : I uninstalled previous drivers using the matrox uninstaller from there site, then in safe mode removed any extra gfx cards/monitors from device manager, also searched for and deleted any pd*.* matrox*.* and g400*.* and opengl32.dd files from my computer(except the microsoft one in windows/system) also checked the registry for any leftover entries.

          Also currently using DX 7a

          Durango : Will give 64 a try

Uzi9mm,not that this would help you with your present problem but try disabling com2 in bios to get one of the cards on irq 10 to use its irq!
are you using 16 or 32 bit colour for your desktop?

              Hi again,

Its been a while since I posted but Ive been constantly tryin to get some answers from matrox direct at there bbs. This link is to my extensive thread with them; http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For...ML/002382.html

It shows the complete history of events, and im currently worse off than when I started. So please check it out and if you can suggest anything they have overlooked then Id be delighted to hear from you.

              Rich.

                Hi all,

                Sorted it!!!!!!

it would appear that I have been constantly misinformed over the last week by DirectX Diagnostics (Dx7a version).
I was trying to run a game last night without sucess when I found a system checker that checks your system for compatability with the game, in this case "Rogue Squadron". Now this shipped I think with Dx5.x and using the said Dx5.x Diag prog it showed me that 5 Dx files were missing.
So off I go back to the desktop and run my current version of DirectX Diag (Dx7a) which is a slightly different interface and it shows all files are ok Hmmm. So I reinstall Dx7a over again and all screensavers/games work.
So Ive been had by a dodgy bit of Diag software for the last week.

Thanks to all who have posted replies, much appreciated and It might be of help to others with difficulties similar to mine.
