new directx 8a took care of d3d crapping out on me when playing UT. Couple of days now and not a single GPF. Used to average 2-5 per night. Just one hidden benefit.

I'm still at 7.0 and having no problems that I'm aware of (using 98se). Is there a good reason yet to upgrade to the latest?

A small update, after a couple of more days. Like most other things, if I open my big mouth (keyboard in this case) I usually come to regret it. The GPFs are back. Although with win2k-pro they don't take down the OS, it still is annoying. I had a an additional thought, however, the vast majority of these GPFs come when I play the Infiltration mod. They are not a common when playing vanilla UT, but still occur.

                  Beezer,

GameVoice is suppose to work better with DirectX 8.0. I'm not sure how, but that's what I saw somewhere.

I think my best improvement for Game Voice would be DSL or Cable...then maybe I'll worry about Dx8.

Does anyone know how to revert this patch http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseID=27380 cause although it fixed my sluggish mouse problem it really messed up my Roger wilco, I now get a error message when trying to run it "unable to initialize direct input. Either a game is running that does not cooperate with RW or old version of DX. Does anyone know what the old settings were. it was a registry patch. Thanks
