I've tested the setup on my home LAN and all was good.

We don't have to use the Ventrilo server to play UT2004, but, we can use it for UT2k3, or both. Besides it was an added, free, benefit with the new server locations. It doesn't matter to me whether we use it for UT2004. We'll just have to come to a general consensus, I suppose. Just trying to cover all the bases I guess.

Well, the nice thing about Ventrilo is that it's a constant open line, so you don't have to press a key to talk. Not quite sure how much it affects our bandwidth (client side)... not much that I've noticed in the few times I've used it.
I've actually used it here at home when I've set up a LAN to play games with my two kids. Instead of yelling to/at each other across the house, I just start my own ventrilo server and all of us put on our headsets. Works pretty good... of course my wife just rolls her eyes.

Well for the most part my kids use some generic $20 headsets. One I got from Fry's electronics, the other was a gift from RadioShack. They both work pretty well from what I've seen/heard. The one from Fry's (I can't remember the manufacturer) has it's own volumn control which is quite nice). I am currently using a Microsoft Game Voice headset. I couldn't find any version in the stores today. Neither Compusa, nor Best Buy nor Gamestop had the game. I may be a while before I join up.
