(afrikaans for "a lot of thanks)
Figured you two (guru and Ees)would appreciate a language that was derived from your own and swahili. I have friends in South Africa.

I know. Afrikaans is (according to my friend Johan in South Africa a clinical psychologist and Professional Hunter) a mixture of Dutch (who settled South Africa, German, Finnish, and a lot of words taken from the native swahili and a few other native languages. It's not a language you can buy a book on and learn such as english or french.
                    Pete

I was just trying to close the gap (friendly handshake?)provided by the Atlantic. Most americans don't understand what it's like (nor do I) to have to know two languages.
BTW-Michael Shumaker rules F1! (but he'll never be Dale Earnhart

Go Ferari Go! But not Schumacher I hate that egoist!!!

Finish has nothing in common with Dutch or Swahili! Hungerian and Estonian on the other hand is related to the Finish language!

BTW: I actualy understand many languages!
Swedish, Finish, English, Estonian, Danish, Norwegian, and a little bit of Dutch!

Like many americans I can barely speak english and definitely not German as I can't even spell Shumacher right and I watch F1 all the time. (I do know how to spell Hakkinen though Afrikaans btw has nothing to do with the languages being similar that's why I find it so interesting it's just certain words taken from each language and then throw in a South African accent. My friends brother Jaco (Pr.-Yakoo) travels to Germany and northern europe as a chemical engineer and can follow most of the conversations because so many of their words are taken from so many languages. I'm trying to learn it before I go back again in May or June. It will be my first official second language. Ever watch NASCAR?
