Guru, I see you noticed my little blurb in the other thread about "reclaiming" the P3 350.
But, as it wont hurt the team I'll just use it to burst my own self image
Also, it got me started on setting up more machines crunching. I'm not sure how much further I dare to spread SETI at work though. Wouldn't want to get ourselves into trouble would we?
Any word on when team stats will be back on?

        Oh, and where is Manex???

Sisyfos. As long as it's runing for the team! The idea of old-timers is as i already said to help the team with computers you are not normaly runing eti on becouse it would ruin your average times! I will get another pentium 133 runing next week! And I am thinking of building a "cheap" computer to use as a firewall that I will propably set up to use the old-timers account!

I hope to be adding a p120 and a pII 233 to the old timers soon. Maybe even adding a p200 and k62 300@ 400 also... I going to be geting my router today.

Ive also got my main machines, that will stay on my account. Celeron2 600@ 900 and Dual pIII 450's @ 600 (not up yet).

Since you've got the permission of the owner to run seti@home at work, isn't it just to ask for permission to install it on more computers?

                  hmmm...permission???
No seriously, I'm only running the CLI on 3 workstations, that I'm the sole user of so I'm not interfering with anyone.
If I want to spread it further on the other hand, I would have to ask permission, but I just can't put it right in my head.

Uhm boss, see there's them aliens ya know and I have this program that can look for them, but it won't hurt nobody and I would get lots of WUs and Matrox Users would be happy and..., and... errhm never mind.

"Hi Boss, how are we today? I was on the Internet at home last night when some guy, Paul his name was in fact, mentioned that continual heating and cooling of computer parts causes damage. So much so, in fact, that he has a program which starts up when the computer is cooling down and keeps the heat constantly high - preventing wear and tear immensely yet only consuming a few pence of electricity. If we could run this on our most expensive machines it could save a massive amount in maintenance costs, hence lowering the total cost of ownership..."

I've got a gun. Let me do what I want. Understand? Excellent.

Though the 2nd could be problematic if he says no. Or if he has a gun. Yup, lots of problems in the alternative, I'll try think of a better one !

                    Paul.

Oups, I better think of a way to get that permission or else I'll (and the team) lose 3 P2s.
But on the bright side, if I get that permission things are beginning to move.

                              Guru,

No, the K6-266 is not running yet. It's a machine at work which is not in use (stands in the corner all day and thinks that it's the fith weel on the car )

It's hard to convince the guys above me that SETI is worth the little electricity that it needs. In fact it is forbidden to crunch in our firm. Not that we don't have the money or are not able to keep with the "traffic" SETI does(we are a ISP ourselfs [ISION Internet AG][anyone know how to post a sick smile?]). One marketing man, who has a good line to the CEO, thinks that SETI is evil. He says that SETI is a "security hole" because it opens some ports to the internet(which is of course totally nonsens, we only go through one proxy port(the famous 8080) to the internet. But, I'm not in the position to "Correct" him, I'm only an apprentice. So there are only to persons left (me and a loyal member) which crunch SETI.
