Anybody been to Birmingham?

Has anyone had to travel to Birmingham on a regular basis during on-peak hours? (Ant?)

I am trying to find a route (from Leicester) that avoids the M6/M42

The best that i could come up with was:

M1
A46
A45
A34

I Know it's a long shot, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I hit HWY 82 and then I20 to get to Birmingham, just a 2.5 hour drive from where I am. Well, that is Birmingham, Alabama, USA. I know nothing about any of the UK routes.

Not me although a colleagues husband commutes from just outside Leciester to Brum. I'll see if she has any suggestions.
