hmm.. can't get there either... all our connections to the US go through London as far as I know, so the problem could very well be somewhere there.

Edit: well.. their whole DNS seems fuxxored up, since I can't even ping or traceroute (those programs can't determine Microsoft's IP somehow)

Microsoft doesn't want anyone to know this but it was actually due to those hackers trying to put back the code they took, about a month ago, after they saw what a piece of shit it was.

I got the feeling the problem lies in the UK, Steve. For I am using the direct AT&T line from Sony London at this moment, and can't reach microsoft either. As our direct line contacts the internet in the UK, the problem must lie there

Try to translate it with babelfish, it basically says that some microsoft worker changed the DNS server by accident. guess he is in trouble

Betroffen waren unter anderem Microsoft.com, MSN.com, WindowsMedia.com, Encarta.com, und Carpoint.com.

Mitnichten, wie sich nun herausstellte. Microsoft gab bekannt, dass ein Techniker die Konfiguration der Router von Microsofts Domain Name Servern (DNS) geändert hat. Daher konnten diese nicht mehr mit DNS-Servern im Internet kommunizieren. DNS-Server haben die Aufgabe, Domainnamen in numerische IP-Adressen zu übersetzen. Der Fehler ist inzwischen behoben, die Internetangebote sind wieder zugänglich.

Microsoft betonte, dass es sich weder um einen Hackerangriff noch um Softwarefehler, sondern schlicht und einfach um menschliches Versagen gehandelt hätte.
