    Taliban Taboos

    Prayer
Failure to pray to Allah five times a day -- a requirement of the Muslim religion -- is punishable by imprisonment.

    Women and driving
Drivers are prohibited from giving rides to women. Violators are subject to imprisonment.

    Preventing idolatry
Portraits -- paintings and photos -- are said to promote idolatry and must be destroyed under the law.

    Women and work
Women are banned from working outside the home except in the health sector. In hospitals, women are separated from their male colleagues.

    Women and education
The Taliban forbids the education of women until institutions segregating them from men are established. Informal education of women can be punishable by law. For men, at least a sixth-grade education is required.

    Entertainment
Music, except for religious chants, is prohibited in shops, hotels and vehicles, and at weddings and parties. Kite flying is considered "useless" and an obstacle to education. Hobbies like keeping pigeons also are forbidden.

    Gambling
Forbidden and punishable by at least a month in prison.

    Beards and barbers
Men who trim or shave their beards -- considered a sign of Islamic piety -- are imprisoned until their beard grows out. Taliban religious police have been known to employ "the fist rule." A beard must be long enough to be held in a fist. Barbers are banned from giving "American-style" haircuts.

    Public bathing
The Taliban shut public bathhouses for men and women, even though most Afghans lack running water. The Taliban says Islam forbids men and women to publicly display their bodies.

Let's not forget the latest addition: it's now illegal to speak English.

Actually, the problem is with censorship. The arabs who hate the west are all poor barefoot peasants who don't know better. They have no clue what's going on outside their hut and all they hear day in day out all their lives is what they are told by their gov't. The empowered radicals are the guilty ones and they should all be shot.

Hiding behind a religion, blaming this on the jewish and palestine situation, and blaming it on us foreign policies are all excuses. If killing people and not afraid of dying is supposed to be in the name if islam, fine, kill them all and let them meet alah. If the US shouldn't get involved in arab afairs, then don't call the next time Sadam invades Kuwait.

It's not cencorship. Many of the most committed in this movement are the educated elite.

Bin Ladens chief strategist was an Egyptian DOCTOR. He got radicalized and was involved in the assination of Anwar Sadat back in the '80's. Unfortunately he only got 3 years.

One more arguement for capital punishment.

In a related demonstration several miles outside Jacobabad, one demonstrator was killed and 10 were injured, authorities and protest leaders said. They said they were still gathering information about the protest.

The father of Mukhtar Khosio, the demonstrator who died, addressed protesters after learning about his son's death. "I have seven sons and just one has died," Maulana Shabir Khosio said. "I am ready to sacrifice six others too for the cause of Islam."
Looks like stupidity runs in the family.

True. But I'm talking about the average person living in iran, iraq, afghanistan, who were celebrating once they heard the news.
