Who/why was that thread closed?

After all the crap that had gone on in that thread, it was locked as I hoped it might actually become sane and fruitful again.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Yeah, I saw that.

But my question was that in all the shit that went on in that thread, some of the last posts had valid questions and statements. The fires were cooling, and real issues were being discussed.

And that was when the thread was closed. Hence my confusion.

I was going to reply to Joel's questions in a cool, calm, and collected manner, since he was also seeking information, especially his questions about Islam.

Would I be out of place to post the responses to Joel's inquiries, since I bounced the questions off of some educated Muslim friends? I wanted to know the answers too, once Joel raised the questions.

I don't handle being called a Nazi very well, but other than that, I was really trying to have a conversation of differing opinions.
