Well, if you want options, then you won't like the scooby too much. No sunroof, no leather, no options really. You can choose auto or manual....and a color that suits your fancy, but that's about it.

For the fun to drive factor, though, I'd probably recommend the scooby. For total vehicle value over time (excluding the fun factor, which is hard to put a price on) the Nissan will be a better deal.

I'd rather have a Honda over either, though, but that's just me.

Hell yeah, i'd take a Ford over BMW anyday.

Or that new Cadillac with night vision system, now that's what I consider really cool.

But the leak-o-mobile? RichL, what were you thinking when you bought it? Sure, the hydraulics are very nice, but they break often and are difficult to fix. I know a guy who has two Citroen XMs, so that he can drive the first one while the second one is serviced and vice versa.

Several reasons actually -
1) Have you any idea how ludicrously <b>cheap</b> a second hand BX is? I paid less money for that car than some people pay to insure theirs.
2) In stock trim it does 0-60 in a shade over 7 secs, tops out at 137mph, goes around corners like its glued to the road, stops on a sixpence, rides like its floating on air, and its ridiculously cheap.
3) It can carry four adults without squeezing, and when I dropped the rear seats it took a large boxed 29" TV without any problems. The hydraulic suspension will self-level with almost any load in the back.
4) I parked my first one of these in the back of a Ford Fiesta at 60mph. I walked away without a scratch. That kinda gives me confidence in the cars crash protection.
6) Citroen maintainance is a popular scare story, perpetuated by greedy mechanics who use the suspension as an excuse to hike their prices. I'm on my 3rd BX 16 valve now, and all in all, they've had less time off the road for repair than my Ford or Vauxhall.
Parts are actually relatively cheap, its the labour charges that stack up. It was cheaper to get a new clutch in that than it was for a Ford Mondeo.
7) Did I mention they're cheap to buy?

Did someone delete that post? We had a really nice BX once, A great car while it lasted, then we got quoted more than it was worth to get it fixed. We took it to a Ford dealer who gave us what it would have us costed to fix it as trade in against a Renault he had on his forecourt. We got a really nice Renault 19 16 valve saloon that six weeks later my wife got slammed into by some idiot who should have taken her life but didn't, so we kind of like Renaults.
So now she's got this, the Megane Cabriolet/ragtop whatever it's called :-) Small but great fun!

I'm just scared to buy a Ford. I was considering a ZX2, but Ford 'quality' pushed me away. It pushed hard too. I can get Fords for 3% over dealer invoice, no haggle.

2001 BMW 330i, stick, zenons (I wonder how many things I've run over at night without knowing in the past ), leather, moon roof, etc. After it's out of warranty, I'll add a supercharger that will give it more HP than a M3

Well, Ford doesn't have any kind of tyre or rollover problems over here.

Oh and I think the lights are actually referred to as Xenons (they are filled with Xenon gas) or HIDs (high intensity discharge).

LOL...of course your'e right about the xenons...and should I know better? I'm a chemist!

Those of you that may be interested, here's a link to a Car and Driver review of sport sedans. Their 325i, which they ranked number 1, was the least expensive of the lot, which included an IS300. Personally I don't care for the looks of the IS300. If I couldn't have a BMW, I'd probably go with an Audi.
