Supercooling induced "blobs" are now produced often and in a stable state. It's called the Einstein-Bose Condensate and was a major target of physics for ages. Now it's commonplace.

In fact this technology has recently been used to produce a coherent beam of matter (matter-laser, for lack of a better term), which may well be the basis of a whole new range of technologies.

As for FTL, this too is becoming theoratically possible. While an object may not accelerate up to lightspeed nothing says that a bubble of spacetime cannot. To travel FTL you first form a bubble of spacetime around your ship (can you say "warp field"?) then have IT move through normal space at FTL speeds. You just go along for the ride, shielded by the bubble around you.

Initial calculations first held that there wasn't enough energy in the universe to form the warp bubble and still do travel, but recent developments have shown the amount needed is FAR less than previously presumed (but still a huge quantity). Who knows....this level too may also be shown to be massively high.

Also coming are of course impulse engines (NASA's new ion-drive). The Deep Space 1 probe inon engine only used 100 grams (3.5 oz.) of Xenon fuel per day using a relatively small power source. Scale this up using a fuel with a higher mass, a larger tank and a submarine reactor and....

Then there are the sucesses in communications where quanum technologies based on the so-called "quantum teleportation" using particles in what is called the "quantum entangled" state, which may well allow communications at FTL speeds. Sounds just like "sub-space communications" on the Enterprise.

At this rate Gene Roddenberry will be considered the Jules Verne of his time.

I think the first induced collapse of a particle was a boson, and the collapse was likend to a supernova, so they called it a "bosonova"

Doc, I'm not trying to refute, just understand. After reading a recent discussion by Hawkings....how is a separate space-time bubble not a separate universe unreachable from our own?

Something just struk me like a 10TON anvill:

According to the general view of Einstains
theory, time dilation occurs...

But!!!!

The Earth is moving!

So we are already in a time dillated enviroment!

This would mean that two atomic clocks on different planets would disalign.

Now the fun part would be if the did not

BTW:

The reason for the mass less photons might be because they exist on the verge of "Dimension existing above the speed of light"

If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Yes, and they're working on proving that by testing it out in space/on the moon. They've already done some work with atomic clocks in high-orbit.

Time dilation was physicaly proven by puting an atomic clock in orbit and comparing it to a twin that was kept on earth.
They got measurably out of synch.
I don't remember the details though. I'll try to find them.

Sounds like an Eistein-Bose condensate. A synthetic ECB was created in 1995. Eric A. Cornell, Wolfgang Ketterle and Carl Wieman won the 2001 Nobel Prize for Physics for their discovery.

The EBC is so weird that in 1999 some Danes used one to slow light down to only 38 miles/hr.

Besides the slowdown of c another amazing fact discovered in this experiement was that the refractive index of the EBC is 100 trillion times greater than that of a glass optical fiber

The warp bubble isn't a new universe but a piece of our own that has been pinched off by warping it unto itself with its contents intact.

The bubble itself can achieve or exceed c relative to the local universe . The contents just go for a free ride unaffected since they are not going at c in their own local envionment inside the bubble.

1. If we were able to "make" gravity on a space ship and not "simulate" it we might negate the time dillation....

1. We place a mirror 5 lightyears away.
2. We beam a laser to that mirror angling it to reflekts back at where Earth will be in 10 years.
3. Will we see the Laser?

A: No, moving through a gravity field(potential) has relativistic influence's but carrying your own gravity is totaly independent of your motion..(unless you are increasing your own mass)
The notion of creating gravity is so totaly beyond current science, that I can't really state anything about it with certainty

when you are traveling at relativistic velocities, you will appear to have your normal mass, but an observer watching you rocket by will measure mass as getting very large(approach infinty as you aproach the speed of light)

B. why not?,
