In a few words:
Drizzt Do'Urden is a Dark Elf. Being good, is a bit "out of place" in Dark Elves underground society so he lives on the surface.
About the "Drizzit", it's the name he receive from a human child. That name becomes a pain for the elf because the child is killed by Drizzt's enemies and he think it's all his own fault.
So, about the Drizzit, I was only playing my part thinking you knew about it
